Armed forces of Somaliland and puntland have been fighting in Sool region, where the two administrations are disputed for its control.
Witness and regional officials told Radio kulmiye that the sides are using heavy arms and there are casualties of both sides, although no one can confirm the exact number of dead or wounded.
Zakariye Ahmed, Journalist in Laso Ano town of Sool region told Local News that the fighting breaks out early morning on Tuesday about 5:30 local time, and goes on for hours.
Our reports also say that the wounded have escaped over a hundred soldiers each.
President of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi accused federal government of Somalia helping Puntland administration for the war of Sool region.
Somaliland’s Chief of Staff Tukaraq Mohamed Daud is among those killed in the fighting.
“Somaliland will defend its borders and population” Bihi said.
Abdi Hirsi Ali Qarjab, Puntland minister of information told the media in Garowe that Somaliland troops attacked puntland troop’s bases in Tuka-raq area of Sool region.
